Cluster games · Connected groups and minimum size

Six symbols, but two clusters: when can the number be combined?

If three are in one group and three are in the other, there is not automatically a cluster of six. They must be connected in a manner permitted by the rules. A small space or diagonal stick can change the reading.

Cluster size is the number in a connected group, not the total amount of the same color on the screen. Before comparing to the minimum, first determine which cells are actually part of the same group. In this guide, we will follow a small grid and change a cell on the paper to see the effect of the connection.

Read adjacency and minimum as joint conditions

In Play’n GO’s own explanation about Reactoonz 100, an ordinary cluster win is from five or more identical symbols connected horizontally or vertically in a 7×7 grid. It also describes the removal of winning clusters and the dropping of replacement symbols as the cascade continues.

For that condition, shared edge matters: left, right, top or bottom. The corner-only touch is diagonal and has insufficient connection to the ordinary rule described. The group does not have to be a straight line; there may be a turn or branch as long as there is a continuous legal path between the participants.

Reactoonz 100 is the exact title of the source. We did not borrow its feature settings for the original Reactoonz or other games. There is also no operator configuration or availability verified by reading the provider page. The next 3×4 grid is a simplified own example, not a layout of that game.

Own worksheet: A’s are six, but no group reaches five

Assume the model that Only A is checked, the connection is horizontal or vertical, and a minimum of five is required in each group. B is the filler that does not belong to the A calculation. There are no wilds, conversions or special features in the model.

Fictitious snapshot H: two separate A groups. Rows are from top to bottom, columns are from left to right.
RowColumn 1Column 2Column 3Column 4

3BBAB

The first group is row 1/column 1, row 1/column 2 and row 2/column 1: three cells. The second is row 2/column 3, row 2/column 4 and row 3/column 3: three cells also. There is a diagonal touch from row 1/column 2 to row 2/column 3, but it has no shared edge.

The correct list of group sizes is 3 and 3, not a 6. Both are less than the minimum of 5, so there is no qualifying A group in snapshot H. The test 3 + 3 = 6 ≥ 5 is false if there is no legal connection between the two groups.

Replace a cell on the paper: becomes a group of seven

Make a separate one snapshot T. All cells are the same, except for row 2/column 2 which is now A. That cell is adjacent to the left group and the right group. The horizontal path is formed in the middle row, so the two former parts are connected.

The new group size is 3 + 1 + 3 = 7. A new A is included in the count; it’s not a free connector that doesn’t count. A single qualifying group of seven is created in the model, not two separate qualifying groups. We don’t have a set cash paytable, so it doesn’t say the payout yet.

Two fake 3×4 grids: the first has separate A groups of 3 and 3; in the second, an extra A forms the group 7.
Own paper comparison: the connection is horizontal or vertical, only A is checked, minimum 5. The new A in row 2/column 2 belongs to the number 7; it is not wild or a prediction of the next cascade.

The word “bridge” is just an explanation of the connection. It is not the name of a special symbol, wild or feature. The cell is still A and its role is the same as all other A. It is also not an instruction to select or move a symbol to the actual slot; two fake drawings are compared.

Count each cell once

There can be multiple paths to the same cell when the cluster has a branch or loop. The symbols do not multiply because there are many routes to follow. A practical way to note yourself:

  1. Select an unlabeled A and label it with a new group.
  2. Follow the adjacent A to the left, right, top and bottom. Mark each new cell once.
  3. Continue from all newly marked cells until no more A’s can be added to that group.
  4. Record the number, then start with the next one not already marked A. Compare each group size to the minimum separately.

In snapshot T, one hundred can return to the previous cell, but the number remains seven. In snapshot H, the legal neighbors of the first group will be exhausted before the second is reached. That’s where you can see why simply counting all the A’s on the screen isn’t enough.

If there is a wild that can be part of different symbol groups, the game’s own attribution and payout rules are required. The A-only exercise will not answer all overlap cases. Record the exception instead of simply repeating the same cell as a new regular symbol.

Do not combine cells from different moments

When there is a cascade, symbols can be removed and their location changed. Each resolved snapshot must have its own group count. The three A’s seen before the change and the three A’s seen afterwards are not automatically a six-symbol cluster.

For a whole-screen change after the winning sequence, see the Gems Bonanza event-order explanation.

We also do not show that snapshot T necessarily follows after H. In fiction H, there is no qualifying A group; the source gives no reason to promise that a new A will come into the space. Comparison is a way of understanding the condition, not a prediction of the next grid.

In the real payout question, match the full title, mode, round identifier, sequence of snapshots and paytable. Separate ordinary adjacency from effects that change symbols. May checklist for rules and records and explanation of adjacency and payline for the next question.
